The Limited Liability Company or LLC is a hybrid of the Limited Liability Corporation / Limited Company and a Partnership. This legal entity has long existed in civil law jurisdictions for example the French Société à Responsabilité Limitée (SARL) and the German Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung (GmbH).
